Press Release Programme West Bengal

The All India Forward Bloc State Council meeting of West Bengal was held on 18th & 19th March 2017 at the suburban town Baidyabati of district Hooghly. It was preceded by membership renewal and 21 district council meetings held during the month of January-February 2017 which elected their delegates for the state council. The state committee members also joined the state council meeting making a total attendance of 238 members.
The state council meeting was presided over by the state party Chairman Dr. Barun Mukherji and inaugurated by Com. Debabrata Biawas, General Secretary of All India Forward Bloc, who is also the observer for the state party. In his inaugural address, Com. Biswas emphasized the deep crisis our country is now passing through due to right reactionary, pro-corporate and religion-based divisive policy followed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Anti-poor, highly corrupt and authoritarian administration at the state headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also adding fuel to the aforesaid crisis. In such a situation, the left forces are now severely oppressed and disintegrated and also deviated from genuine leftism, particularly due to their wrong policy of making electoral alliance with the right reactionary corrupt party like Congress, Forward Bloc has also become a victim of such wrong policy. Com. Debabrata Biswas, in his concluding speech has therefore given a clarion call to our party members to rise to the occasion and to revive our party organization by following Netaji’s left ideology, having no truck with Congress.
In fact, it was the main objective of the council, which accordingly took some positive steps and some vital mass movement programmes to strengthen the party, as well as the mass organizations. It was resolved to launch civil disobedience programme, including road blockade and court arrest, on 17th & 18th April 2017 to press the demand for arrest of all corrupt leaders of TMC and other parties who are involved in the scandal relating to Sarada and Narad incidents. The party thus resolved to be in continuing mass movements.
To strengthen the organization, it was resolved to regularize and improve the quality of the state party’s weekly organ, to hold political training classes under the banner of ‘Asok Ghosh Training Centre’, to arrange regular visits of the state leaders to the district party units, to improve coordination between the party head-quarter and district party offices and many other such programmes.
Unfortunately, during some months before the state council meetings, attempts were made to create division in the party for some vested interests. But such attempts miserably failed and the whole state party now stands united.
The council unanimously elected a new strong 65-members state committee, including 12-members Secretariat. Party’s young trade union leader Com. Naren Chatterjee has been elected as the General Secretary of the state party.

The new state party Secretariat consists of following members :
