The US President Donald Trump’s order to restrict people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States is very much discriminatory and divisive. No modern society can accept such undemocratic decision. It will divide the people and the communities on religious basis, which will hamper the international harmony. Moreover it is against the letter and spirit of concerned UN Conventions. Thousands of travelers parked in confusion and anger after immigrants and refugees were kept off flights and left stranded in airports. Along with Syria, the ban affects travelers with passports from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
The new rules blindsided people in transit and families waiting for them, and caused havoc for businesses with employees holding passports from the targeted nations and colleges with international students.
The international society should raise voice against such unilateral and conservative decisions which escalates the social tension all over the globe.January 30 2017
