A short introduction:
Com. Ayyanan Ambalam was born on 15.9.1924 as the elder of two sons to Sri Annamalai Ambalam and Velayu Amnal in a village, Rajakabiram near Madurai and he has studied upto IV form and during his school days he represented Maluwai District in Volley Ball. Comrade Ambalam joined the political movement at the youngest age and had to give up his studies. He took active part in the underground movement along with Congress Socialists Communist Party Cadres, and worked for organising Forward Bloc in some parts of Madurai District in Tamilnadu. He became District Congress Committee Member in the United Congress at Madurai District. In 1945 Com. Ambalam has attended the Forward Bloc Workers Conference and came into contact with our great leader Mutharamalinga Thevar. He also worked hard for the success of the Conference as an active member of the reception committee. After the progressive farmer’s conference at Rajapalayam as all the left cadres jumped into the peasant’s movement, Com. Ambalam too moved along with comrades P. Ramamurthy. T.G.Krishna Murthy and was arrested and put behind bars. In the very first election of the Free India, Comrade Ambalam contested as the United Democratic Front Candidate at Triuparan Kundram Constituency. Since then he was very active in the peasants and farmers movement and organised agitation.
