A. R. Perumal
A short introduction:
Com. Aruppukottai Rama Thevar Perumal was born at Aruppukottai, a small village of southern Tamilnadu on 17th January 1921. His father was Shri Rama Thevar and his mother was Smt. Pakkia Ammal. Their family was a known Agamudiyar Family of that area. Com. A.R. Perumal met Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar first time at Kariapatty near Aruppukottai when he was only 13 years old. He was attracted with the personality and the oratory skill of Muthuramalinga Thevar. He gradually became an ardent follower of Thevar and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He became active member of All India Forward Bloc when Muthuramalinga Thevar floated the party in Tamilnadu. Com. Perumal was a good orator and a good organizer. He organized the Party in Ramanthapuram, Sivaganga, Madurai and other southern districts of tamilnadu. He was elected to Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly twice from Aruppukottai in 1971 and 1974. He became the Chairman of All India Forward Bloc Tamilnadu State Committee in 1980 and continued till 1989, when he was elected as the Vice Chairman of AIFB Central Committee. Com. Perumal was elected as the Chairman of AIFB Central Committee in 1991 after the death of Com. P.D. Paliwal. He wrote several books and articles on Netaji, Muthuramalinga Thevar and Role of AIFB in Tamilnadu politics among which Dahiyan Thevar and Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar are important books that are considered as basic books about Thevarji. Com. Perumal died in 1998.
